She lost her freedom

After the highlighter incident a few days ago and the homework incident a few weeks ago, Betsy has lost her freedom. She used to be able to wander the house freely. Most of the time she just followed me around or napped on her bed. She always had her dragline on, mainly for my convenience. If she is wearing her dragline I don't have to find a lease in order to take her outside. Now she is back to being "connected to my hip". I am always holding her dragline and watching her. I have repuppy-proofed my room so she can still sleep loose. She has never touched anything in the past so I think she is just rebelling. Hopefully she will realize that she has never been allowed to chew things up in the past and she still can't now!

[I'm trying to catch back up on posting!]

8 months!

Can you believe Betsy is already 8 months old! She has been with me 6 months so I only have 6ish months left! Yikes!

I would do an "8 things" post but we are heading to the mall to shop with some friends! But I love everything about Betsy!

I absolutely love Betsy's brown eyes. They are hard to describe. They are a crackly brown color. Enlarge the picture and you can kinda see them.

All that being good before Christmas lead to no good!

Hey pups, it's Betsy here!
You all know how hard it is to be good for Santapaws! I worked super duper hard. I did everything my mom asked and was on my best behavior! But gosh that is a lot of work! So the night after Christmas guess what I did.
the remains of blue highlighter. All the ink is gone from the little ink thing. And the case is broken up in tiny pieces

Yep pups that's right, while my mom was sleeping I chewed up a blue highlighter while momma was sleeping! I guess you could say she wasn't the happiest, but boy did I have fun! I sure am glad my mom is a heavy sleeper and that she got to sleep in! I sure would have hated for her to catch me in the act. When she woke up she was worried that I would get sick. But it never happened. I guess highlighter is okay for puppy bellies!

Look at my tongue!!!

Betsy's mouth opened with a very blue tongue sticking out!

[Sorry it's sideways!]

Miss Naughty Betsy!
But I think I'm going to go back to being a little angel. Wouldn't want Santa to get word of this and not give me presents next year!

Oh and mom said she posted two other posts tonight so scroll down and read them too!

Amazing Drawing!

There is a very nice man named Paul Atzmiller. He draws a black and white pencil drawing of your dogs head for free! All he asks is that you donate an unstated amount of money to one of 9 charities he supports. I heard about it through HPWT's website. HPWT is a GDB club and one of the charities he draws for. They are who I chose to support of course! Paul doesn't know how much money you donate, or if you donate at all. You can find out more about it here. I had Paul draw puppy pictures of both Gabrina and Betsy. The drawings came back AWESOME! You can tell he spends a lot of time on each drawing and loves what he does. I would highly recommend getting your puppy drawn. It doesn't have to be a puppy in training, it can be a pet, a guide, or a CC!
Here is a picture of me and Betsy with her drawing. You can click on it to enlarge and see the drawing better.

And here is the picture I sent in. They look the same!

Gabrina's looks amazing too! In fact, her drawing got chose to be in the calendar that he puts out every year. I don't have a picture of it to put up though! Sorry!

WOW!

I'm sorry it has been so long since I have updated! I kept meaning to, but something always came up! So here comes a nice probably boring post. I might add one or two more tonight or tomorrow.
I am going to add all the pictures at the end, so if you just want the cute stuff skip this...
I had finals the 17th, 18th, 21st, and 22nd. I was super busy studying and taking all of my finals! We had finals the week of Christmas, lame right!! Some scrooge decided that I should have a super hard final in all 8 of my classes. Grr! But oh well, they are over now and I get to relax. While I was cramming Betsy was hanging out at home wishing she could come to school. And everyone at school was wishing Betsy was there so they could play with her before semester ended. I can't take her on test days though, the principle requested that I don't take her on days when I know I am taking a test. Poor Betsy!
There was a little mix up with who was puppysitting one of the puppies in mu club, so I got to have Mulan from the 21st to the 23rd. Mulan is 5 months old and absolutely adorable! Betsy loved having a friend and was really pouty when she left!
We had a great Christmas. Betsy got a new bone and a new rope for her jolly ball! She would have gotten more if I wouldn't have just boughten her 4 new bones less than two weeks ago. She did great not eating any wrapping paper. I also got a new framed picture of her...I'll do a different post on the picture and how you can get your own!
Two days before Christmas our oven decided to stop working. So we didn't get to give any of our friends baked goods and it messed up our plans for Christmas dinner! But we made something else delicious and are learning to cook without the stove! Betsy and I have spent quite a few days running around with our parents finding the "perfect" oven for our family. I think tomorrow we are going to go pick one up (i hope!). At least I have officially now gotten in all my driving hours, so when April 1st comes around I can get my license! Woot woot!
I think that basically brings us up to date. On Thursday and Friday we are going to be at my grandparents celebrate Christmas with my mom's side of the family. And on Saturday we are going to be at my aunts celebrating with my dad's side of the family! I love Christmas :D!

My dog ate my homework...literally

Yesterday while I was in the bathroom brushing my teeth Betsy was sound asleep on her dog bed. I had just finished doing homework so I had a ton of binders and papers spread out on the floor and on my bed. I left Betsy in my room because she was taking one of those naps where the world ending wouldn't wake her up. Well apparently while I was brushing my teeth the world did end. I walked back in my room to find that Betsy had ever so kindly chewed up a packet. Wasn't that nice of her? Now I get to explain to my teacher that my dog really did eat my homework!

Christmas Party!

On Sunday my club had our annual Christmas Party We ate desserts, delicious pizza, and had a white elephant gift exchange. All while watching the snow fall. We got close to a foot last night and it's a whole 7 degrees outside. But do we have a snow day? No of course not! Anyways...here are some pictures courtesy of Stacie the host!

A good investment!

Betsy's tags jingling have been driving me insane lately! So I did some research on tag silencers. I have never been found of the ones that hang down from the collar with all the tags in a cloth bag thing. So as I looked around on Google I came across the perfect tag silencer! It's leather and slides onto the collar. It is the perfect size for Betsy's big girl collar. All of the tags go inside the little pouch and it even comes with an ID card. It is definitely worth buying! Now I don't have to listen to her tags as she scratches her neck in the night; and she isn't super noisy in class anymore!

It only cost $5.98! You can see a picture and buy your own here!

We got some white stuff! [By Betsy]

Guess what happened last night! The white stuff fairy visited last night! Here's the scoop!
I fell asleep last night and it was super cold.
I woke up this morning and ate breakfast.
Mom took me outside to "do my business" and there was white stuff all over the ground!
I went potty and really wanted to play but mom had to go get in the shower and get ready for school.
Bummer right?!?
But mom promised that she would take me outside to play as soon as she got home from school.
Well guess what..while mom was at school my mom's mom (really my grandma, but she doesn't like to be called that..hehe) took me to play in the white stuff!
I ran and ran and ran!
And when mom got home she took me out again!
I ran and ran and ran again!
My friend even came outside to run with me.

Betsy running ahead of a German shorthair pointer dog, Slim. Betsy has a front paw off the ground and her ears are flying backward. The other dog looks very determined to catch up. There is snow on the ground too!

Goodness I love it when that white stuff falls from the sky!
But now I am very tired from all that runnin.
I hope you all had a very nice day!

Love,
Miss Betsy

Oh yeah, mom told me to be super sure I thanked Alphini's raiser for giving us the Thanksgiving award. This is the second time mom has received it so she's not going to repost it, but she wanted to say "thank you very much! We are blessed to have your blog to read too!"

In and Out, In and Out

Today Betsy tried to run out the front door while my friend was walking outside. Luckily I caught her leash as she was just outside the door..but she still tried.
So tonight I propped open the screen door and we went in and out again and again. I wouldn't let her go out the door until I said "Betsy Okay". If she went out the door when I gave the command then we continued for a walk down the street and back. Filled with lots of praise of course!
But if she tried to walk out the door before I told her she could she went on tie down while I walked in and out of the house a few times.
Then we progressed to where I would stand outside the door and she wouldn't move until I came back inside and we went out together. And then we went on our little walk.
Needless to say after 30 minutes of letting cold air into the house, I think she figured it out..but we are going to keep practicing over the next few weeks to beat it into that hard head of hers!
Have you ever had problems with a puppy bolting out the door. If so how did you fix it?

I guess you could say that I am in such a habit of posting daily I just can't stop! I probably won't post daily, but I will definitely post more often than I did before.
