We survived the 1st week!

Jojo standing in the grass looking at the camera with her head cocked. She has little triangle ears, short stocky legs, and a chubby little belly!
Jorinda is such a good puppy! She is so smart and such a sweetheart! She already knows her name and understands but occasionally chooses not to listen to sit, come, okay, wait, let's go, that's enough and DYB. Every time I take her outside she tries to go potty. We are still working on her giving me a sign that she needs out. She sleeps from 11pm to 9am. A perfect summer schedule if you ask me!
Jorinda pulling on Betsy's dragline. Betsy is holding a bone.
Jorinda loves to pull Betsy around by holding on to her dragline! I told you she was smart!
Now we all know that every puppy can't be perfect! She is such a barker! If she is upset she whines and barks. Her separation anxiety is horrible...leading to horrible crate behavior. She will sleep in her crate when she is tired, but the second she wakes up it's bark, bark, bark! Today we went on a car ride and she whined the entire time. Even though Betsy and my brother were in the backseat with her. She just sat on the floor by Betsy and whined. Little Jojo is also a big chewer! She will chew on anything and everything. Luckily she hasn't completely destroyed anything yet, but my new flip flops now have little dots! Other than those two things, she truly is an angel!

Jorinda standing on the sidewalk. She is looking back at the camera. You can see her entire body

Betsy was less than trilled when I first brought Jorinda home. She would pounce on Jojo and push her to the ground constantly! Now they play really nice together. And even though they wouldn't admit it, they secretly love each other!

Betsy is stretched out and Jorinda is resting her head on Betsy's stomach. They are both alseep

We do have one little problem. Jorinda thinks she can nurse on Betsy! And Betsy just stands there and lets her. Any advice, besides collar corrections, to make her stop?

Wow. She is sounding almost exactly like Julimae! Except for the nursing... Julimae hasn't tried that. I don't know what to do about it. She will probably outgrow it. :/

Awww she's such a cutie!!!

Well, it looks like Betsy would make a good mother! I'm guessing that Jorinda will just outgrow the nursing--once she figures out there isn't any milk coming from her new 'mom' she'll probably just give up. I've never heard of it though, so I can't give any advice :)

HAHA! Poor Betsy! When we bred our Golden Retirever Brandy and we weened the 8 puppies off her milk they all tried to nurse on our Senior Golden Retriever Molly. She snapped at all 8 puppies at once. It was hilarious. But with Jorinda, she'll probably grow out of it when Betsy leaves. Since Betsy is a consideration for Internation Breeding she probably emits(sp?) a pheramone that sends Jorinda a message that she's a mommy. :)

What a sweet little baby! Ah well, they all have their little issues right? That's what makes this so challenging! But, I agree, I bet she'll outgrow the nursing thing. She'll probably give up on barking in the crate too, once she figures out it doesn't get her anything. She's adorable! :)

While we were watching Jorinda she kept trying to nurse on Anthony too, except not on his nipples. Anthony really didn't like it when she tried to nurse on his boy parts. He he. By the way, I burnt you a CD with the pictures I took of her few days with us. let me know how you want me to get it to you, I won't be at the little puppy meeting on tuesday but could send it with brianna.

Oh, she's so stinking adorable! At least you have something to work on right - she can't be perfect all the time! he he!

Hosta did the nursing thing to Ellie too - but it subsided within a two weeks.

So Adorable!!! Sounds like you are enjoying your new little one. Is she a pure Lab? She certainly seems to have picked up the Lab chewiness!

She'll probably outgrow the nurseing but you might want to try some bitter apple. It might work? You also might want to try substituting a soft baby toy that she can nurse on after you give her a correction and take her away from Betsy. Babies are allowed to have fleece toys if they don't chew them up.

Aw- she looks so sweet and cuddly :) I love her golden coloring. What a good girl she is, sleeping in until 9am. Lucky you! Those are such adorable pictures of her sleeping with Betsy.
