It's Official

Betsy is officially going back for training on August 13, 2010. I think it is finally setting in that she is leaving. I am having mixed feelings about her going back. With Gabrina, I knew she was ready for it , so I was excited for her. But Betsy seems so happy here. She isn't bored and looking for something to do, she is happy. It is definitely going to be hard putting her on the truck. She is the perfect pet dog for me: calm, laid back, and happy to hang out at home if I'm going to be gone all day. I struggled having her as a PIT because I live a super busy life style and she would rather hang out at home, but as a pet she would be great. I know I would take her back in a heartbeat.

So I guess all I can say is:

"Betsy I hope you either fly through the phases so I can walk you across that stage, or quickly tell them that you don't want to be a guide so you can come home to me! I love you baby girl!"

I'm gunna miss you Sue Sue!

I just got the official word my puppy in training is recalled this month as well. What great photos you have to remember Betsy by.

It's hard to admit that your puppy is ready to go back and it's even harder realizing that at this point there isn't much left that you can do to progess the training. That's exactly how I felt with Freya. I didn't want her to go back because she seemed happy here, but I had to admit when Jim asked me that she was ready for more advanced training. At least you know that you'll be able to take her back. The special ones leave a pawprint on your heart forever. Cherish and enjoy the last 10 days with her. Maybe see if you can find a sitter for Jorinda in the last 3 days so you get as much Betsy as possible. :) She seems like she's a good girl and is going to do wonderfully!

Oh, Maddie, my heart goes out to you! It's so much harder sending a pup to training when you think they'd be happier being a pet than sending one to training that you know is ready to move on! I hope, and know, that Betsy will let them know what she wants to do and with how quick training is now it'll be no time before you know what she's told them. I hope you find peace with whatever decision she makes as I know it will be hard either way!

Make us proud at GDB Betsy! Whether that's coming home or being a guide, you make us proud by doing what you want!

*hugs* Maddie! There's always one that just tugs at your heartstrings more then the others, even though we love them all. We'll be thinking of you up to, during and following her recall!

Betsy is a great girl! Just think, the "worst" thing that can happen with training is she comes home :) She'll let GDB know what she wants to do. You've done a great job raising her, and now Jorinda can have the same wonderful upbringing. Good luck with the drop off.

Betsy you sure had a great raiser who gave you a ton of experiences and trained you well! Now its time for you to go on, but first, you have to give your raiser a lot of licks because she is going t need it. Good luck

I have a feeling Betsy is going to rock it. :)

Your pictures reminded me that I need to grab a calendar at Fun Days this weekend. Thanks! :)

Good luck to Betsy! That was such a nice post, with the pictures of Betsy as a young pup to the big girl she is now! You have done a great job raising her, I have loved following her progress and reading about her learn and grow. I hope everything goes well with the recall. Good luck :)

At least we know that Betsy is in good hands -- and if she comes back that would be aweseome, but if she makes it, it will be awesome for someone else.
